Authors’ Guidelines

The Editorial Board of the Nigerian Social Science Education Review (NSSER) invites original, high-quality theoretical, empirical, and review papers that address contemporary issues, emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in Social Science Education and related fields of education. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authors are required to adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Originality: Manuscripts must be original scholarly works that have neither been published previously nor submitted simultaneously to another journal for consideration.
  2. Manuscript Length and Formatting: Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word using Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-line spacing, and should not exceed 15 A4 pages, including references, tables, figures, and appendices. Margins should be set at 2.54 cm (1 inch) on all sides.
  3. Title Page: A separate title page should accompany the manuscript and include:
  • Title of the paper;
  • Full name(s) of the author(s);
  • Institutional affiliation(s);
  • Corresponding author’s email address and telephone number;
  • ORCID iD (where available).
  1. Abstract and Keywords: Each manuscript should include an abstract of not more than 250 words summarizing the purpose, methodology, major findings, and conclusion of the study. The abstract should be followed by 3–5 keywords.
  2. Referencing Style: All manuscripts must conform strictly to the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition referencing style.
  3. Tables and Figures: Tables, figures, photographs, and illustrations should be clearly numbered consecutively, appropriately titled, and placed within the text as close as possible to where they are first cited.
  4. Language and Quality: Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Authors are encouraged to proofread their manuscripts thoroughly before submission.
  5. Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. The journal reserves the right to reject any manuscript with an unacceptable level of similarity after plagiarism screening.
  6. Peer Review: Every manuscript submitted to NSSER undergoes a double-blind peer-review process. The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept, reject, or request revisions to any manuscript based on reviewers’ recommendations.
  7. Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format to: submission.nsser@unn.edu.ng
  1. Copyright: Upon acceptance for publication, authors may be required to transfer copyright or grant publication rights to the journal in accordance with the journal’s publication policy.
  2. Editorial Decision: The decision of the Editorial Board regarding the acceptance or rejection of any manuscript shall be final.
